At-Home Fitting Guide
When your wedding dress arrives from Sofi, your home will transform into a bridal salon.
Follow our helpful steps to prepare for making your dream come true!
STEP ONE: GET READY
- Ask a close friend to accompany you.
- Choose a place with good, pleasant lighting.
- Lay a clean sheet on the floor to protect the dress.
- Avoid liquids and furry items near the dress.
STEP TWO: PREPARE YOURSELF
- Take a shower before trying on the dress! Have a fresh face and hair.
- Wear seamless nude-colored underwear and shoes of the same height you plan to wear on your wedding day.
- Remove all jewelry to avoid snagging the dress.
STEP THREE: PUTTING ON THE DRESS
- If the dress has a back zipper, put it on that way; if the dress has a side zipper, put it on over your head.
- If the dress has a hook closure, close it before zipping up the dress.
- Ask your friend to zip up the dress for you!
Note: If the dress isn’t quite ready for the aisle, don’t worry. With the magical help of a local tailor, it will finally fit you perfectly, and you’ll be ready to say, "I do!"
STEP FOUR: PERSONAL PREPARATIONS
- Sometimes the dress needs some simple adjustments, such as hemming, shortening straps, adding bust support, or tightening the waist.
- If you don’t have a trusted tailor, you can ask friends and family for recommendations.
STEP FIVE: STORING YOUR DRESS
- We recommend storing the dress in a dark, dry place, like the back of a closet.
- To reduce strain on the straps, use hanger loops.
- To protect your dress, cover it with natural fabric; we recommend using a clean cotton sheet!
STEP SIX: THE BIG DAY
- Never iron the dress, just steam it. If you’re unsure how to do this, call a dry cleaner that specializes in wedding dresses for assistance.
- Hang the dress to remove any excess wrinkles.
- Ask friends to help zip up and button the dress.
